Iconic Influences: Kurosawa and Ozu

Still from a black and white Japanese film, depicting a samurai with his sheathed sword over one shoulder, leading the charge in front of four other men with sheathed swords at their sides.

We’re teaming up with the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company to present two films by iconic Japanese directors Akira Kurosawa and Yasujiro Ozu. The screenings—and post-screening discussions— will prime you for the upcoming theatrical production of Akira Kurosawa Explains His Movies and Yogurt (With Live & Active Cultures!). The play, written by Julia Izumi, debuts May 4.
