Dining

A cafe counter, constructed in a modern organic style from warm wood and natural stone, tucked into the corner of a stone building and lit by natural light streaming through a floor-to-ceiling window at right.

Café Coming Soon

Opening in 2025, our new café will serve food and drinks inspired by the traditions and cultures of Asia. We’re building the café in the East Building (Arthur M. Sackler Gallery) pavilion, where it will open out to the Moongate Garden, a unique and beautiful corner of the Enid A. Haupt Garden. The café’s serene atmosphere will invite you to reflect and rest in this oasis amid the hustle and bustle of the National Mall.

We can’t wait to welcome you! In the meantime, you can find dining options at our neighboring Smithsonian museums.

Construction

While the café is under construction, you may experience noise, dust, and closures in the East Building (Arthur M. Sackler Gallery). We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please see the list of affected areas below:

  • Exhibition The Art of Knowing temporarily closed from November 4, 2024, through spring 2025
  • Bathrooms on levels B1 and B3 occasionally closed
  • Elevators in the East Building running at half capacity
  • Construction barriers at East Building entrance
