Old-clothes Shop, No. 1

Line drawing of Milman's Row

Milman’s Row was home to secondhand stores. Used, dingy, and old-fashioned clothing was hung outside the storefronts. Once known as the “lover’s lane” of Chelsea, the street became dull with its “grey lengths of uninteresting houses.” (Walter Burgess, Bits of Old Chelsea, 1894).
