Set amid the ruins of the titular ancient Greek city, Reha Erdem’s latest feature equally captures breathtaking landscapes and the mysteries of human nature. The Neandria of Erdem’s film is a sleepy town surrounded by gorgeous Anatolian mountain scenery, but mining interests threaten its peace.

And beneath the surface, there are strange doings afoot. The man who shows up claiming to be the town’s new imam forgets to say evening prayers. Shady characters prowl the ruins at night, searching for ancient coins. A young girl is found murdered.

The film's rebellious, charismatic heroine, Runa, is the only person willing to investigate. An aspiring athlete, Runa can’t wait to leave Neandria. But she also can’t help but be drawn into its mysteries.
