During his residency, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Mongolian mask making through a thoughtfully curated series of events.

In this engaging workshop, participants have the unique opportunity to explore the craft of traditional Mongolian mask making associated with the Buddhist ritual known as the tsam. Participants will be led through the multistep process of creating papier-mâché masks with the guidance of skilled artisan Gankhuyag Natsag. While traditional Mongolian masks take months to produce, participants will have a chance to explore some of the unique skills and techniques that are special to this longer process.
