The winner of a Peabody as well as two prizes at the Sundance Film Festival, Writing with Fire was hailed by The Washington Post as “the most inspiring journalist movie—maybe ever.” An inspiring group portrait of the staff of India’s only newspaper run by Dalit and other marginalized women, it is a truly uplifting experience to watch. Committed to battling caste-ism, corruption, and misogynist violence, these crusading journalists manage to grow an amateur news outlet into a thriving media organization with a YouTube channel watched by millions. (Dir.: Rintu Thomas & Sushmit Ghosh, India, 2021, 93 min., DCP, Hindi with English subtitles)
