If you haven’t seen Decision to Leave yet, here is your chance to enjoy it on the big screen. If you have already, here’s a second shot to untangle its deliciously twisty plot. The latest feature from master director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Handmaiden) garnered loads of awards, including the Best Director prize at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. In what the New York Times’s Manohla Dargis calls a “heady, baroque mystery infused with the kind of old-fashioned romantic fatalism that makes noir-darkened hearts flutter,” a married detective (Park Hae-il) falls for an enigmatic femme fatale played with elegant panache by Tang Wei (Lust, Caution). Their encounter sets off a serpentine plot probing its characters’ dark impulses toward violence, treachery, and betrayal, all filmed in Pak’s characteristically lush, ravishing style. (Dir.: Park Chan-wook, Korea, 2022, 138 min., DCP, Korean and Mandarin with English subtitles)
