Directed by and starring Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae and partly set in Washington, DC, this heart-pounding political thriller is set in the early 1980s. When a North Korean spy deeply embedded in South Korea’s KCIA starts leaking top secret information, KCIA Foreign Unit chief Park Pyong-ho (Lee) and Domestic Unit chief Kim Jung-do (Jung Woo-sung) are tasked with investigating each other’s departments, resulting in proliferating double-crosses as the men try not to be accused themselves. The stakes are raised when an audacious North Korean plot to assassinate South Korea’s president is uncovered. “A tangled espionage thriller that recalls the suspenseful works of the British novelist John le Carré.” (Robert Daniels, New York Times) (Dir.: Lee Jung-jae, Korea, 2022, 131 min., DCP, Korean with English subtitles)
