Description
Celebrate the opening day of the exhibition A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur with a special performance by singer Jayanti Sahasrabuddhe.
Jayanti Sahasrabuddhe presents music compositions rhyming with the bhava, the mood and sentiments, of Udaipur’s paintings. These compositions capture the anticipation and celebration of the monsoon and spring seasons in the words of Rajasthan's most famous daughter, Mirabai, and other poet-saints.
The brisk, evocative, classical-based melodies are joyfully immersive. They visualize the massing, billowing, dark monsoon clouds and the swings and colors of Holi and spring as well as reflect the love, longing, and beauty seen in Udaipur’s paintings.
