This visually arresting take on an on-the-road movie from artist turned filmmaker Babu Eshwar Prasad is a feast for cinephiles. It begins with Prakash, a civil engineer, driving to a remote village to work on a highway project. He serendipitously picks up a hitchhiker who gifts him a stack of bootleg DVDs he thinks are appropriate for Prakash’s journey: famous road movies by the likes of Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch, and Abbas Kiarostami. Prakash’s encounters with local villagers, including a laborer on a bicycle and a farmer at a bus stop, emphasize the options each man has due to his class background, while Prakash’s new DVD collection awakens the artist within him.
