Virtuoso young and veteran artists from the venerable Marlboro Music Festival return for their twenty-seventh season as part of the National Museum of Asian Art’s concert series to perform music by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Ottorino Respighi, and contemporary composer Rene Orth. The Washington Post calls the annual Marlboro concerts “among the most invigorating events of the classical season. Dozens of astoundingly gifted young virtuosos [give] . . . performances that radiate vitality and freshness.”
The program features Respighi’s Il tramonto; Brahms’s String Quartet in B-flat Major, op. 67; Orth’s You Shattered My Deafness; and Mendelssohn’s String Octet in E-flat major, op. 20.
Artists include soprano Lauren Pearl; violinists Abi Fayette, Alina Kobialka, Anna Lee, and Scott St. John; violaists Kei Tojo and Sharon Wei; and cellists Tony Rymer and Judith Serkin.
