Detached folio from a dispersed copy of the Shahnama (Book of kings) by Firdawsi; left-hand half of a double-page composition separated from the facing folio (S1986.227); text: Persian in black nasta'liq script; recto: Shirin before Shiruya; verso: text, four columns, twenty-five lines; one of a group of six folios.
Border: The text and the painting are set in gold, red, and green rulings on cream-colored paper.
