Description
Figurine which consists of a grouping of six hand-modelled waterfowl on a 1 cm-thick clay disk. Five of the figures appear to be ducklings. These are grouped around and are facing the sixth duck in a "hub and spokes" pattern. The sixth figure is somewhat taller and larger and is presumably the "mother." Three of the smaller ducks have their heads touching that of the center figure, while one rests its beak on its mother's tail. The piece is complete except for a chip which has removed half of the head of one duckling.Clay: moderately fine, reddish-tan stoneware.Glaze: An iron-brown glaze was applied to the ducks but not to the supporting disk on which they sit.Decoration: none. -
