Detached folio from a dispersed copy of the Shahnama (Book of kings) by Firdawsi; text: Persian in black naskhi script; recto: illustration and text: Siyawush cleaves an onager into equal halves while hunting with Afrasiyab, 4 columns, 19 lines; verso: text: Piran's Advice to Siyawush, 6 columns, 29 lines; one of a group of 6 folios.
Border: The text and the painting are set in red, green, gold, and blue rulings on cream-colored paper.
