Fragment of iron-black-glazed jar walls

Object Details

• Description

  Shape: Pieces of two fused jar walls. Wheel thrown.The jar walls are 0.6 - 0.8 cm thick.

  Clay: The body of the jars was gray stoneware with many small black inclusions and many small air pockets. The surfaces of the jar walls burned a slightly darker brownish-gray color where they were exposed to the kiln atmosphere.

  Glaze: The iron-black glaze was relatively thick for a San Kamphaeng ware and has pooled and fused completely where the two jar walls came into contact.

  Decoration: None.

  Marks: None.
