Guest Speakers: 

Robin Ha 
Robin Ha is the award-winning author/illustrator of the graphic novel memoir Almost American Girl. At fourteen, she moved to the United States from Seoul, Korea. Her comics and illustrations have appeared in various publications, including The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times, as well as in anthologies highlighting Asian American culture, including Rise: A Pop History of Asian America from the Nineties to Now, New Frontiers: The Many Worlds of George Takei, and Shattered: The Asian American Comics Anthology (Secret Identities). She is also the author of the best-selling comic recipe book Cook Korean!: A Comic Book with Recipes. Her new graphic novel, The Fox Maidens, is scheduled to be published by Balzer + Bray in February 2024. 

Shuran Huang 
Shuran Huang 舒然 is a Cantonese photographer based in Washington, DC. Through intimate moments, her work focuses on politics, immigration, human rights, diaspora experiences, and interactions in between. She speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Spanish. 

Amy Trang 
Dr. Amy Trang is the founder and CEO of Social Capital Solutions, Inc., a management and consulting company for not-for-profit entities. Her passion for advancing viral hepatitis research and public health policies started in 2014 when she began serving as the administrator for the National Task Force on Hepatitis B Focus on Asian and Pacific Islander Americans, a volunteer-based national coalition. She has also been serving on the Hep B United National Advisory Committee since 2017. Dr. Trang completed her doctorate degree in public policy from George Mason University School of Public Policy after transferring her doctoral studies in culture and values of education from McGill University (Montreal, Canada). She holds a master's degree in social and psychological foundations of education from the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Education and Human Development, and a bachelor's degree in international studies from George Mason University. She has also been an adjunct faculty member at UVA since 2000, where she has taught Sociology of Education, Education in Multicultural Societies, Anthropology of Education, Critical Education Policy, Comparative Education, and Asian Education. 

Grace Jan  
Grace Jan is The Yao Wenqing Chinese Painting Conservator at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art. Since 2009, she has worked on the museum’s Chinese painting and calligraphy collections and supported its Chinese Painting Conservation Program to promote domestic and international exchange and collaboration. She has played a key role in the Andrew W. Mellon–supported initiative to develop and promote this specialization across the United States. Ms. Jan is a graduate of The Conservation Center of the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, where she studied paper conservation. She trained in Chinese paintings at the Shanghai Museum, the Beijing Palace Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
