Detached folio from a Divan (collected poems) by Hafiz; painting from a dispersed copy of Khamsa (Quintet) by Nizami, Layla and Majnun at school; text: Persian in black nasta'liq script; recto: text, two columns, thirteen lines; verso: illustration and text, Layla and Majnun at school; one of a group of two folios.
Border: the text is set in red, gold and black rulings on a paper with landscape and animal motifs; the painting (from a Khamsa) is placed over the text panel (from a Divan) on a paper with stenciled floral motifs.
