Tsuboshima Dohei (born 1929, Hironaga kiln, Tsu, Mie prefecture) at age 17 became the apprentice of the amateur potter, banker, and important patron of ceramic artists Kawakita Handeishi (1878-1963), worked with him for seventeen years, and succeeded to the workshop after Handeishi's death. His serving bowl with overglaze red and green enamel decoration offers his take on the vivacious late Ming porcelain style that Handeishi also enjoyed.
