The “Acquisition Consideration form” states that the four known thangkas from this series were in the Daniel Brooks Gallery, New York City, in 1969, two of which were purchased by Jack Zimmerman in the 1970s. One of the Zimmerman thangkas subsequently went to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the other was purchased by Orrin Hein.Daniel Brooks Gallery, New York, NY was a dealer of Asian and African art, active between 1961 and ca. 2018.[2] See note 1.Based in New York, Jack and Muriel Zimmerman are collectors of Tibetan and Nepalese and began acquiring objects in 1964. Their collection consists of sculptures, paintings, and bronze objects. Work from their collection may now be found at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Newark Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, among others.[3] See note 1. The owner is listed as Orrin Hein.Orrin Hein is a collector of Tibetan, Nepalese, and Indian art.
