  • Description

    Landscape of two tall pine trees which appear in the foreground of the composition. Next to a cliff at the right there is a thatched pavilion, within which a scholar is seated facing the distant mountains that emerge from the mist. Only the pine trees and the pavilion have relatively strong colors; all of the rocks and mountains are rendered mainly in ink. The brush strokes are dry and light.

    Signed: Li Shih-cho.

    There are four seals of the artist affixed to the scroll: "Fang-liu;" "Shih-cho ssu-yin;" "Ku-chai" and "Chi-yen ching-yen chien."
