  Copy after Tang Yin 唐寅 (1470-1524)

• Description

  The painting shows a man sitting on a bank of a river; in the mountains there is a waterfall and a temple.

• Signatures

  The signature is accompanied by two seals.

• Marks

  Two seals reading "T'ang Po-hu" and "Liu-ju chu-shih" accompany the signature.

  There are many seals of many collectors, as follows: Liu Shu (1750-1816), eight seals; Yen Yen-chun, three seals; Mr. Li, one seal; Feng Chao-jan, one seal and another on the outside flap; Ma Chi-tso (modern), three seals; Kao Tai, one seal; and Miao Yueh-tsao (1682-1761, "chin-shih" 1715), two seals.

  [1] This object is one of a group of 88 objects (F80.104-F80.180, FSC-S-22-25 and FSC-O-11a-h) seized in 1960 by the U.S. Customs Service, Department of the Treasury, from the dealer and collector Chen Rentao, Hong Kong and Frank Caro of C. T. Loo & Co., New York.

  The objects were deemed to have been introduced into the commerce of the United States in violation of 19 U.S.C. 1592 (Trade with Communist China).
