Description
Clay: sandy, white.Glaze: opaque, grayish cream, crazed.Decoration: painted in overglaze enamels, on both surfaces, including a medallion underneath the bowl. Kufic inscription. -
Inscriptions
The Kufic inscription appearing in white reserve on a blue ground on the inside of the bowl is merely auspicious, without date or name. It reads:[Arbc]al-'izz al-dayim wa'l-iqbal al-zayid wa'l-nasr al-ghalib wa'l-farr al-gayim wa'l-jadd al-sa'id wa'l-dawla wa'l-sa'ada wa'l-salama wa'l-karama wa';-dawla wa'l-sa'ada wa'l-salama wa'l-karama wa'l-baraka wa';-dawla wa'l-baqa li-sahibih"Eternal glory, ever-increasing good fortune, overwhelming victory, self-subsisting aura of glory, good luck, prosperity, happiness, good health, nobility, prosperity, happiness, good health, nobility, blessing, prosperity and long life to the owner.""Eternal glory, ever-increasing good fortune, overwhelming victory, self-subsisting aura of glory, good luck, prosperity, happiness, good health, nobility, prosperity, happiness, good health, nobility, blessing, prosperity and long life to the owner." -
