    False seal of Chen Mingyuan (active late 17th-early 18th century)
  • Description

    Artist's water cup, modelled as half of a lotus pod; three attached objects (peach, chestnut and acorn) forming the supports. Two seals and inscription. Wood stand.
    Clay: fine, dense.
    Glaze: thin brownish slip; peach, glazed in yellow and red.
    Decoration: (noted above) modelled in full relief.
