Object Details

• Description

  Jar: globular, low basal ring and rounded lip. Wood stand.

  Clay: hard, dense, white.

  Glaze: thin, transparent glaze, partly disintegrated, over a coating of white slip.

  Decoration: carved in low relief in the paste under glaze.

After he left Shanghai in 1910, he lived, at various points in time, in London, Montreal, and Ridgefield, Connecticut. He established a gallery in New York City in 1920.
