• Description

  Syrian, 12th century

  Jar, small, inverted pear-shape, with spreading foot. Lip nicked.

  Clay: soft, dense, gray-white.

  Glaze: greenish cream, with large areas of partial disintegration, having a silvery iridescence.

  Decoration: painted in a deep red and copper brown lustre over glaze.
