    Persian
    Seljuk period, early 13th century.
    Bowl, deep, on a high, hollowed foot. Cracked and repaired.
    Clay: soft, buff, thinly potted. Glaze: transparent. Decoration: painted in blue and black on a white slip under glaze.
  • Inscriptions

    Around the inner edge is a row of Kufic ornamentation derived perhaps from the Arabic words [Arb] ("al-'alim al-haqq") "The Knowing" --"The Truth" (epithets of Allah).
