Dish with molded decor of single flower

Object Details

• Description

  Dish, low round with broadly flaring sides; low foot; deposits of kiln slag.

  Clay: hard, dense, resonant.

  Glaze: lustrous grayish-green with an area of brownish-gray on the outside; stray lines of crackle. Considerably worn in bottom.

  Decoration: modeled in low relief in the paste under glaze, inside: single flowering plant (peony?), with stem starting near rim, flower filling bottom, leaves spreading around walls. Single incised line beneath rim.
