Object Details

• Description

  Bowl: lotus-flower form on high cylindrical foot.

  Clay: thin, porcellanous, semi-translucent.

  Glaze: brilliant white, with faint bluish tinge.

  One of a pair: F1907.293-F1907.294.

• Label

  This Chinese porcelain bowl was acquired by its previous owner in the late nineteenth century in Korea, where it was said to have been excavated from a Koryo dynasty (918–1372) tomb. The shape, with foliate rim, lobed bowl, and tall foot, was also made in lacquer.
