    [1] See Original Whistler List, Etchings, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives. Also, according to Curatorial Remark 1, G.E. Guest, 1921, in the object record: "Probably purchased from Mr. Whistler.
    A list of ten etchings...appears among a package of papers labelled: Invoices prior to 1893. This etching is one of that number.
    It is given a 1906 registration number because it was included in the inventory of that year."
    [2] The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
