Description
Jar, deep, contracted mouth and flaring low foot; gold lacquer repairs.Clay: hard, resonant, dark gray.Glaze: transparent, with runs, covers inside, outside, base and foot. Slight crackle near lip. Stained.Decoration: white slip covering approximately top half of jar under the glaze. -
Label
This small jar would have been handy beside the stove for holding salt or sesame seed. It was shaped on the potter's wheel. The dark clay body, with its upper half dipped into white slip, is characteristic of pots made at the Kyeryongsan kilns. -
