About the speakers

JOANNE LEE MOLINARO a.k.a The Korean Vegan

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Joanne Lee Molinaro’s parents were both born in what is now known as North Korea. With over four million fans spread across her social media platforms, the New York Times best-selling author has appeared on The Food Network, CBS Saturday Morning, the Today show, and PBS. Her debut cookbook was also selected as one of “The Best Cookbooks of 2021” by The New York Times and The New Yorker. Molinaro started her blog, The Korean Vegan, in 2016 after adopting a plant-based diet. In July 2020, she started her TikTok (@thekoreanvegan) as a coping mechanism for the isolation caused by the global pandemic. At first, she posted content related to politics and life as a lawyer during quarantine. However, after a single post of her making Korean braised potatoes for dinner (while her husband taught a piano lesson in the background) went viral, Molinaro shifted her attention to producing sixty-second recipe videos while telling stories about her Korean American immigrant family. MIYOKO SCHINNER a.k.a. The Queen of Vegan Cheese

Miyoko Schinner is a cookbook author, activist, CEO, and founder of the leading plant dairy brand Miyoko's Creamery. She founded Miyoko's Creamery in 2014 and has led the company to become one of largest vegan cheese and butter brands, now available from more than twenty thousand retailers across the country. With compassion at its core, Miyoko’s Creamery is building a future where an animal-free dairy food system is a reality. Miyoko has dedicated her life to advancing the vegan food movement—she's published seven vegan cookbooks, founded multiple vegan food businesses, and most recently has become an advocate for the right of vegan food products to use traditional meat and dairy terms on their labels. She was included as one of Forbes "50 over 50" women making an impact and was named a Food and Wine “Game Changer” for her work, among numerous other accolades. Read more about Miyoko here.
