The colorful male peacock has brilliant green tail feathers that are tipped with iridescent eyespots ringed with blue and bronze. When attempting to attract a female, called a peahen, the peacock raises his tail feathers into a fan shape to create a vibrating, shimmering effect. The peacock has different meanings to different cultures: it can represent power, strength, confidence, and even divinity.
