Choreographers Vijay Palaparty and Nalini Prakash from Spilling Ink contemplate ideas of space—both the human body and physical spaces—as vessels of spirituality and divinity. Drawing inspiration from artistic works from the Indian subcontinent in the museum’s collections, they explore how the human body is a container of and a vehicle for expression that exists within the larger context of physical space—in this case, the museum itself. The collective, with guest artists Sreyashi Dey, Chitra Kalyandurg, Ramya Kapadia, and Rashi Narain, revisits a time when dance and music coexisted in temples to celebrate Hindu gods and goddesses.

During the interactive program, artists and participants from the audience will move through the museum space, beginning with a procession in the exterior plaza, to appreciate the Indian subcontinent’s extraordinary culture and, on a personal level, to reconsider how notions of internal self and outer spaces coexist.
