Description
Shape: Fragment of the neck and mouth of a large, iron-brown-glazed stoneware jar. In cross section the mouthrim is triangular in shape and is approximately 1.5 cm wide. The wall of the jar neck is approximately 0.6 cm thick.Clay: The body is of a coarse dark-gray clay with many black and white inclusions and a moderate number of small air pockets. The body of the vessel burned a light brick red where the thin glaze did not cover the ware completely.Glaze: The rich chocolate-brown glaze extends down the inside of the neck for approximately 5.0 cm. The glaze adhered to the outside of the neck less well than it did to the inside.Decoration: None.Marks: None. -
