 According to Curatorial Remarks 1 in the object record, "Bought from Thomas R. Way in the summer of 1905. Through some inadvertence this print was erroneously given a registration number of the previous year."

 The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
