According to Curatorial Remark 1 in the object record, this object is from the "old collection." See also, Accession File, Collections Management Office, which states that, other than a Voucher date of June 1, there is no further purchase information for this object. It should also be noted that this object was kept in the Reserve Section until January 1921, when it was transferred to the main collection and given a registration number for that year. Later, the registration number was changed to correspond with the year of purchase (see Curatorial Remarks 2 and 5 in the object record).
[2] The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
