During the Goryeo dynasty, unglazed gray stoneware vessels were made as utilitarian counterparts to more costly celadon-glazed ceramics.  This elongated gourd shape, favored for wine bottles and also made in celadon versions, has a hole in its waist to facilitate pouring.
